I am to acquaint you, for the information of Secretary Ser & Lytton that Major General Peel approves of arrangement proposed by Governor as explained in the Surveyor General's letter to the Acting Colonial Secretary of 8th November last, upon the clear understanding that the extension of Murray Battery, whenever it may be authorised, should be carried out as proposed by the Commanding Royal Engineer and concurred in by the Surveyor General, and a communication has been made to this effect to the Officer Commanding the Troops in China.
